Courses

Starting to shape the block.

Graeme runs weekend stone carving courses from his workshop near Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire. The courses are held over a weekend and most people do get to take away a completed piece at the end of the 2 days. The courses are aimed at beginners although all are welcome.

Most people will carve a piece of limestone, usually Portland or Ancaster to create a 3D sculpture. Many students have  learned the art of letter cutting during the course of a weekend.

It is a dusty business. The courses are hard work but they are also very productive and hopefully good fun. There are further details about the courses on my website at www.chisel-it.co.uk

Graeme also runs stone carving workshops in schools where the students can get some hands on experience of designing and making a sculpture from stone.

    Hi Graeme,

I might be working up near Coalville soon and would be available in the evenings. Do you hold any courses in the evenings?

    Regards,
    Peter

  • Graeme says:

Sorry Peter, I only run weekend courses or I can teach you on a one on one basis on a weekday. This costs £120 a day. I will announce new dates for the weekend courses on the blog soon.

    Steve,

I will be announcing some new course dates shortly for the Autumn but have got a busy summer of chiseling so not able to run any until then. Courses will cost about £150 for a weekend, the price includes your stone, tools, tuition etc. Watch this space and I will hopefully see you later in the year.

    Graeme.

    Dear all,

I will be running a stone carving weekend on the 25th and 26th of September. It will take place in my workshop in Leicestershire between 9 and 5 both days. Although it is aimed at beginners, all are welcome. The course costs £170 and the price includes all stone, use of tools, safety equipment and lots of cups of tea. Most people take away a completed sculpture at the end of the course.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Please e-mail to reserve your place in the first instance. A deposit of £50 will then be required to confirm your booking with the remainder payable on the weekend.

Futher details are available on the website at http://www.chisel-it.co.uk

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Graeme Mitcheson.
